5 Guys I Almost Dated (#3)

#3 Leonardo – Just Friends

Leonardo and I had an interesting relationship. I guess you could say we were friends, but it wasn’t a real friendship.

I chose the name Leonardo because he was REALLY good-looking (not quite as cute as Leonardo DiCaprio, but he was leonardoclose). We were in the same FHE group (if you don’t know what that is, ask a Mormon Friend)  my sophomore year and it was quickly apparent that Leonardo’s apartment was cool and all the girls in the group wanted to be their friends. The battle began.

We would invite them to a bonfire or tea party (they really liked holding and attending tea parties) and the other girls in the group would invite them over for dinner. We would then retaliate by throwing an exclusive 1920’s themed Murder Mystery Party. I’m not sure who won the battle, but it was a ridiculous alpha female competition and I feel dumb even writing about it.

Leonardo and I didn’t become friends until the end of the year. During our friendship, I felt like he was one of the few people I could talk to without being judged, yet we knew very little about each other. We rarely saw each other but when we did, we were able to pick up like we hung out regularly. It was a relationship built on respect, not time.

Fly Geyser, Black Rock Desert, Nevada

Fly Geyser is not a natural phenomenon. It was created accidentally in 1964 from a geothermal test well inadequately capped. The scalding water has erupted from the well since then, leaving calcium carbonate deposits growing at the rate of several inches per year. The brilliant red and green coloring on the mounds is from thermophilic algae thriving in the extreme micro-climate of the geysers.  It’s not technically open to the public but who doesn’t like a little trespassing adventure?nevada

Bodie, California – Ghost Town

One of the most well-preserved ghost towns in America lies in the Rocky Mountains.  Bodie is unique because the homes are still furnished and the buildings are intact.  It’s almost like everyone int he town just stood up one day and walked out!

1) Pumpkin Flavored Puppy Chow!

I’m a sucker for pumpkin-flavored foods.  In fact, if they made pumpkin toothpaste I would probably buy it…. new business idea?

I saw this on my friend’s blog and it looked delicious, I’ll probably have to give it a try sometime this week

Snag a copy of the recipe here

2) I FINALLY figured out what I’m going to be for Halloween.  If anyone wants to join me I’m sure that we could pull together a batman/poison ivy/captain america costume too!
