Who is the Irresistible Girl?

Do you know a girl that everyone seems to adore?   She isn’t flawless, glamorous, snobby, or unreachable, she simply possess the qualities that make others want to be around her.

She is fun, pretty, kind, smart, motivated, opinionated, and easy-going.  She has problems and unique challenges but she manages to get through her struggles by being optimistic, working hard, being adventurous, and relying on good friends.

Guys want to date her and girls wish they could hate her.  She is the Irresistible Girl.

Am I the Irresistible Girl?

Not yet!  Becoming the Irresistible Girl is a life long process, and I’m just beginning.

It’s always been easy for me to identify Irresistible Girls in my life, but becoming Irresistible to myself has been as difficult as developing an effective strategy to defeat my nemesis in a 4 year TP battle in high school. (Our senior year he won with a tortilla throw — 945 Tortillas– I was crushed)

Freshmen year of HS before a TP raid (My rebellious streak: petty crime — my mom drove the get away car)

I was so un-cool in Middle School that no one knew my name and I got bullied (the type of stuff you see one the Disney channel).  Although things got better in High School when I started dressing cute and wearing make-up, it took me a long time to develop social graces.  During these impressionable years I found myself looking in the mirror and thinking:

I know that I’m really cool deep down inside, why doesn’t anyone else see it?
What actually makes that girl more popular than me?

I spent years observing boys, girls, teachers, celebrities…. strangers, trying to find the answers.  Although it took me a while, I noticed similar characteristics in the people I found Irresistible (being able to joke around, take risks, be kind to everyone, etc.).

Junior Year TP raid (Petty crime was clearly a substantially stimulating weekend activieity)

Eventually, I decided to pretend that I had those characteristics and people actually believed it!

Jane Austen once said,

“We have all a better guide in ourselves, if we would attend to it, than any other person can be.”

That’s exactly what I did.  I looked inward to find the most Irresistible parts of myself and then I learned how to show them off.

Today, I’m a confident person with vision for my life, purpose, and a strong work ethic.  I’m writing this blog because I want to share my thoughts, impressions, and discoveries about life through the lens of a former wall flower.

What makes me Irresistible?

My family. I’m from an average sized family of 4 and we’re part of a large extended family in the region of Sandy Eggo, California. We have a few Spanish speakers, a pro surfer, a singer/model/actress, a DJ, a reggae singer, a pianist, a famous blogger, and a cheer leading coach.

My life. I’ve lived in Provo, Utah as a student at Brigham Young University off and on for the last 4 years and I’m majoring in Business at the Marriott School of Management. I love to go running, read, watch TED talks, come up with creative ideas, buy earrings, throw parties, spend time with my favorite people, and read funny birthday cards.

I find a lot of fulfillment in my faith in Jesus Christ because I constantly see the positive effects of it in my life.  Although I loved sharing my faith as a missionary for a year and a half, I don’t believe in pushing anything on anyone.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Wherever a person may draw strength from, may they cherish it. Unfortunately, some of us are lost…
